Michigan Business Challenge – Seigle Impact Track Round Two Winners

The second round of the Michigan Business Challenge–Seigle Impact Track at the Ross School of Business has brought forward eight impact-focused ventures to watch. One of these ventures is the +Impact Studio Design Lab Founder, G2G (Grow Together), run by Yasmin Abdulhadi, MBA ‘23. These eight teams will now advance to the semi-finals, taking place on Friday, January 20, 2023. From there, four teams will advance to the Finals on Friday, February 10, 2023.

Idea Day” with Our Donors and Friends!


On Friday, December 9, 2022, representatives from Applebaum Family Philanthropy, Applebaum Ventures and three expert advisors came to the +Impact Studio to provide feedback and advice to UM students in the +Impact Studio Founders and Applebaum Impact Design Fellows programs. Applebaum Family Philanthropy is a key sponsor of the activities in the +Impact Studio Design Lab.

Experience a Design Jam Through This Interactive Website


Follow along the design jam journey and add your own ideas on our new UMS/Ross Design Jam with Wynton Marsalis mini-website! On Sunday, October 16th, the University Musical Society and the Ross School of Business +Impact Studio convened a one-day design jam at Michigan Ross to look at new ways of getting the arts into the hands of audiences through innovative uses of technology. The site features photos and descriptions from every stage of the day’s work.

Equity-Centered Prototyping Workshop a Success

On Tues, Nov. 29th, the +Impact Studio hosted a workshop for undergrads, to help them understand what, how, and when to prototype, and to transform good ideas into interactive, emotional experiences with an equity lens. This session was run by Keesa V Johnson (MDes), an award-winning creative systems designer and design strategist who uses African and indigenous principles throughout the design thinking process.

Impact Gala

Community Case Competition, Net Impact @ Ross, and Detroit Impact @ Ross celebrated the conclusion of Fall Impact Cases and generated community with one another at an Impact Gala on Mon, Dec. 5 at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. The Semester in Detroit spring program accepts undergraduate students from all schools and departments at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. Volunteer for VITA and Help Others with Tax Returns


Virtual Training in December

VITA stands for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance. Join a community of over 80 volunteers in working to complete federal and state tax returns for low to moderate income families in Washtenaw County. Volunteer to help clients save on costly tax preparation fees, and put over $1.4 million of refunds into the hands of those that need it most. No experience? No problem! United Way’s comprehensive training process will give you the skills and knowledge necessary to prepare basic tax returns.
