ENGAGE: Our Stories, Our Voice: Diversity in Journalism and Why it Matters

February 16 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

Why do Black and Brown journalists matter? In journalism, media, and other forms of mass communication the narratives of Black and Brown people in America have been told from a White or mainstream perspective. Why is this a problem? Join us for a virtual discussion discussing the need for diverse representation in media, featuring local BIPOC journalists and artists who will discuss their experiences in the field, what they’ve learned, and why representation in media and communication matters. This session will be co-moderated by Lynette Clemetson, Director of the Wallace House Center for Journalists at University of Michigan. Panelists include Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture at the City of Detroit; among others TBA.
