Grad Students: Enroll Now for the +Impact Studio

The +Impact Studio course teaches interdisciplinary graduate student teams (e.g., MBAs, MSWs, MPH, MEng) how to use scholarly intellectual capital, business acumen and design methodologies to address a wicked problem (e.g., how might the financially precarious or the unbanked accomplish necessary financial transactions in society; how might citizens living with failing infrastructure be better served by their municipality.)
At the same time in Fall 2019, B+I will open a campus hub for design and impact, also called the +Impact Studio. It will be a collaboration area and will serve an educational community passionate about designing for impact. Construction is currently underway, and everything is going according to plan. We will introduce the space to students, faculty and staff in an Open House September 20th from Noon-3 pm.

Open Road at Ross – It’s a Wrap!

Three teams of four MBAs each embarked on road trips across America in May. They were part of Open Road at Ross – Powered by Ford, an action-based social entrepreneurship program developed by Ross students for Ross students. Each team spent the month of May visiting a new social enterprise every week–meeting business owners on the weekend, analyzing their business during the week, and presenting findings and solutions by Friday. Then on to the next city! Below are the cities and businesses they visited (click on links below to read blog posts about each experience!)

Team LOVA (Katerina Athanasiou, Minsoo Lyo, Catherine O’Donnell, and Hana Viswanathan)

Team MPower (Brooke Burton, Chloe Hull, Gautam Kandlikar, and Fernando Palhares)

Team RAIK (Ritesh Kumar, Allie Morbitzer, Kathy Tian, and Ivy Wei)

“Made at Michigan” Highlights Robust Social Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

These ventures span multiple disciplines and models—from for-profit businesses to nonprofit organizations to innovative products with market potential—and the university is helping nurture their journeys from idea to execution.
