Detroit Engagement
U-M’s engagement with Detroit has extended over two centuries, and the Michigan Ross commitment to Detroit has continued for over 30 years, a mission that inextricably links the campus with this city of makers.
Impact Internships
Every summer, over 30 students from Ross and the Ford School of Public Policy along with undergraduate business minors deliver impact at organizations locally and around the globe. These roles may be in the public or nonprofit sectors or at social ventures.
Social Innovation Series
Business+Impact hosts and sponsors innovative workshops and events at the Ross School of Business. Top impact leaders, scholars, and students work to advance innovative practical solutions to society’s toughest challenges.

SPOTLIGHT: Dawn Batts (MBA ’92)
Dawn Batts (MBA '92) has developed a career working alongside investors, founders, and ecosystem builders who are committed to expanding access to early-stage capital, particularly around the Detroit Metro area. A graduate of Michigan Ross, as well as MSU, with a PhD in Cultural Anthropology from Wayne State, she is all-Michigan in her education. Her career has unfolded through a series of pivots that gradually brought together finance, strategy, and community-centered work
