Three MBAs Pick up 2020-21 Skip and Carrie Gordon Scholarships

ANN ARBOR – Oct. 7, 2020 – Business+Impact (B+I) is pleased to announce that Claire Babilonia (MBA ’21), Tieranny Baker (MBA ’21) and Kevin Finnegan (MBA ’21) were chosen to receive the 2020-21 Skip and Carrie Gordon Scholarships for outstanding commitment to solving complex social challenges through learning. These three recipients were chosen from over thirty applicants, and the announcement comes with a $5,000 award for each recipient.  Each will serve as B+I Student Ambassadors for the full 2020-21 academic year.

Claire Babilonia, MBA 2021
Claire worked in marketing at a national education nonprofit prior to pursuing her MBA. While at Ross, she has served as a Board Fellow with ArtLab J, B+I Summer Fund Recipient as an Intern with Ashoka, Careers with Impact Peer Coach, has a leadership role with Net Impact, completed an impact-focused MAP, and serves as an Admissions Ambassador. Upon graduation Claire plans to gain full time employment in the impact sector, ideally working as Chief of Strategy for a nonprofit or social enterprise.

Tieranny Baker, MBA 2021
Prior to joining Ross, Tieranny spent five years working part-time for a nonprofit in Chicago that introduced girls to STEM careers and as a project engineer in construction project management. As an MBA student, she has led Impact Projects with Detroit R&B, completed an impact-focused MAP, chose a nonprofit for her Living Business Leadership Experience class, and serves as an Admissions Ambassador, focusing on her experience with Detroit R&B. Tieranny’s long term goal is to leverage her MBA education and corporate experience to return to the Chicago STEM nonprofit with the knowledge and network gained in business school to scale the organization nationally.

Kevin Finnegan, MBA/MPP 2021
Kevin worked in a variety of roles focused on increasing equitable access to higher education prior to pursuing graduate school. Now, as a dual MBA/MPP student, he has served as a Board Fellow with Ponyride, returned as a Senior Fellow in the Board Fellowship program, been selected as Summer Fund Recipient as an Intern in the City of Detroit’s Mayor’s Office, interned with Level One Bank working on CSR efforts, is a Business+Impact Student Ambassador, completed an impact-focused MAP, and holds leadership roles with the Ross Give-A-Day Fund, Detroit R&B, Net Impact, and Education+Business. Upon graduation Kevin hopes to remain in the impact space working at the intersection of business, education, and policy.
