Fast Food for Thought: 5-minute lightning talk event with 10 UM faculty

Fast Food for Thought: 5-minute lightning talk event with 10 UM facultyOpen to: Everyone

Since 2017, the University of Michigan Sustainable Food Systems Initiative (SFSI) has hosted a unique community-academic partnership course titled Food Literacy for All each winter semester. Structured as a virtual lecture series, Food Literacy for All features different guest speakers each Tuesday evening (6:30-8pm EST) to address diverse challenges and opportunities of both domestic and global food systems. The course aims to ignite new conversations and deepen existing commitments to building more equitable, health-promoting, and ecologically sustainable food systems.

On April 15, join Food Literacy for All’s 10th annual “Fast Food for Thought” where 10 interdisciplinary UM faculty and staff give 5-minute talks related to food and agriculture. Speakers include:
– Dr. Alexis J. Handal (School of Public Health)
– Abigail Merolle (SEAS)
– Dr. Allan Hruska (SEAS)
– Amber Bal (LSA, Romance Languages & Literature)
– Allyson Pérez (LSA, American Culture)
– Caylen Cole-Hazel (Hatcher Graduate Library)
– Dr. Rebecca Hasson (Kinesiology)
– Clara Gamalski (Student Life Sustainability)
– Dr. Alicia R. Ventresca-Miller (LSA, Anthropology)
– Dr. Miranda Brown (LSA, Chinese Studies)

After the talks, join us for a casual reception with bites prepared by Red Tail Catering. Chef SouFy and Chef Angus Bush bring culinary creativity and skills in classical French techniques, traditional Anishinaabe food ways, and indigenous fusion.
