Michigan Ross Juneteenth Celebration

Open to all Ross employees

Join the Black@Ross Employee Resource Group (ERG) on Thursday, June 19, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Corner Commons (B1590) as we celebrate Juneteenth, a day of restoration, recognition, and reflection with food, fellowship, music, games, giveaways, and more!

On Jan. 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, which stated that all persons held as slaves in rebellious states shall be set free. Despite this, slavery continued in Texas. The proclamation only took effect there in 1865, when Federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure that all the enslaved people were set free. Now, we remember and celebrate June 19 as a day of freedom and emancipation.

The deadline to RSVP is Monday, June 16.
