Sacred Grounds Detroit
The National Wildlife Federation’s Sacred Grounds Detroit program empowers houses of worship as environmental and social change agents. As trusted community leaders and large landowners, they help spread native habitats, rain gardens, and best management practices, both on their grounds and in surrounding neighborhoods. Since 2018, NWF, along with Friends of the Rouge and Sierra Club Michigan, has expanded the program to: 1) grow native plant projects, 2) reduce stormwater runoff, 3) build community partnerships, and 4) train stewards for local greening efforts.
